The Ontario College of Teachers licenses, governs and regulates the province’s teaching profession in the public interest and to protect students. All publicly funded school teachers and administrators in Ontario must be licensed by us and be Ontario Certified Teachers (OCT).
The College regulates the teaching profession to protect students. Teachers in Ontario’s publicly funded elementary and secondary schools must be certified by the College, keep their membership in good standing, and follow the profession’s ethical and practice standards.

You must apply to be certified by the Ontario College of Teachers and remain in good standing to teach in Ontario’s publicly funded elementary and secondary schools.

You must arrange for your university to send to the College the academic records for all the degrees and programs you listed on your application form. The College will base its evaluation on these records. See Academic Records and Transcripts for details.
A Statement of Professional Standing is required from the country, province or state where you completed your teacher education program, and from any other country, province or state where you are or have been certified to teach.

If you were issued a Certificate of Registration or Provisional Certificate by the South African Council for Education (SACE), please upload a copy of the certificate.
The College understands that teachers who have never taught in South Africa (or teachers who did not teach in South Africa after January 1, 2000) may not have been issued a SACE Certificate of Registration. If you were not issued a SACE Certificate of Registration, please upload a copy of your teacher education degree scroll, diploma, or certificate.
