Minutes of the Council Meeting of the Ontario College of Teachers held via Videoconference on March 3, 2025

1. Call to Order/Welcoming Chair Remarks
The Chair, Maria Vasanelli, called the meeting to order at 12:03 p.m. She welcomed everyone present and members of the public joining online. The Chair shared a land acknowledgement, recognizing that members of Council and the public were viewing from across the province. The Chair welcomed Joseph Fiorino and Robert Waxman to their first Council meeting and provided brief introductions.
2. Approval of the Agenda
It was moved by Valerie Fontenelle, seconded by Elaine Lajeunesse, and
CARRIED,
That the Agenda for the March 3, 2025 Council meeting be approved.
Preparation time of one half-day was confirmed.
3. Conflict of Interest
No conflicts were declared.
4. Council Business and Governance
4.1 Selection and Nominating Subcommittee Report
Tammy Webster, Chair, presented the report of the Selection and Nominating Subcommittee. The Chair noted that the special meeting of Council was called to fill the public member vacancies on the subcommittees and to appoint the Chair and Vice-Chair for two subcommittees. The Chair also noted that due to the additional current Council vacancies, the current public members of Council are being recommended to sit on several subcommittees to meet legislative requirements.
It was moved by Natacha Akineza, seconded by Mark Baxter, and
CARRIED,
That Council approve the recommendations for subcommittees as outlined in Document 2.
5. Future Meeting Date(s)
The Chair reminded Council of the upcoming Council meeting dates.
6. Adjournment
The meeting adjourned at 12:25 p.m.
