The Ontario College of Teachers licenses, governs and regulates the province’s teaching profession in the public interest and to protect students. All publicly funded school teachers and administrators in Ontario must be licensed by us and be Ontario Certified Teachers (OCT).
The College regulates the teaching profession to protect students. Teachers in Ontario’s publicly funded elementary and secondary schools must be certified by the College, keep their membership in good standing, and follow the profession’s ethical and practice standards.

The College maintains a list of individuals, both Ontario Certified Teachers and members of the public, on a roster. These individuals serve on panels to support the work of five committees: accreditation, fitness to practise, discipline, investigation and registration appeals.
The Ontario College of Teachers Act and its regulations define the establishment and criteria for serving on a roster. Applications are considered by the Selection and Nominating Subcommittee on an annual basis with recommendations for appointment approved by Council.
Interested in being appointed to the roster of panellists? Applications for governance positions are accepted year-round and are held for review until the annual selection process, which occurs at the end of the calendar year.
