Overview

Additional Basic Qualifications (ABQs) and Additional Qualifications (AQs) are designed to enhance the professional knowledge, skills and practices of our members.

ABQs and AQs are organized by AQ schedule: A, B, C, D or E according to their purpose and content. Basic qualifications for teaching in the primary or junior divisions also exist.

While we do not offer AQ courses, our mandate includes:

  • developing course guidelines
  • approving course providers
  • accrediting courses
  • recording successful completion of qualifications on members’ teaching certificates.
